Sooo I was dominating the recent 5k buy in tournament at Bellagio. Things were going very well on the first day, a little shaky at first but all of a sudden I built up to a chip lead fairly quickly. It all seemed to start when Sebok sat at my table too for some reason...
One hand I called a raise with 22 and the flop came 2 3 6. I check called the flop and a 7 came on the turn. I wanted to get maximum value so I decided to lead out because I expectted my opponent to check behind if I checked. I bet and he called. The river came a ten of diamonds for the third diamond. I bet again, and my opponent pushed all in into the huge pot for not a great deal more. I didn't like it but obviously called and he showed me 99... the raise on the river didn't make much sense but it seems based on my table image and style I tend to get some gifts every once in a while. After that I won a couple races and also got paid off with two pair in a large ot. I built to 165k when 2nd maybe had 120k. My momentum was halted however when I lost a 100k pot with QQ to AQ all-in preflop. He made a straight on the river. BALLS. There are always pots that come up in tournaments that really affect you more than others.. for some reason this one really tilted me and I was not in very comfortable position any more. Nonetheless I made the money and 13 returned to day two. I really felt I was going to win this tournament, but it was not to be. I picked up KK vs. Jimmy Fricke's AJ and he binked me and I was gone in 11th. Bah. Devo got 12th for a dissapointing pokerroad finish.
It sucks because I really want to start getting more tournament wins under my belt, and I feel like I am stepping up my game every day. Hopefully the main event will work out well, I feel very confident in the Bellagio poker room as of late.
Other than that I've been keeping it pretty low key. Have played some more hearts recently and my practicing online has paid off. My last couple sessions I've made a combined 12k or so in our regular game that included Layne Flack, Gavin Smith, Tex Barch, Brandon Cantu, Bryan Devonshire, JDN, plus a couple of other appearances. We need to start a Hearts league! Its the best.
Also I've been playing raqcuetball with Sebok and although I hadn't played in about 5 years I'm already dominating the game... it simply fits my lanky quick body type. It is a great game because besides getting a major workout, it is very strategic when it comes to shot selection. You can do a lot less running if you hit accurate strategic shots.
As always I procrastinate on my online poker book but at the same time can't wait to see it physically published and sitting on my table. That will be an awesome feeling.
In general I am a bit bored with life but only temporarily, I think I am just restless to get some big wins in tourneys and to maybe travel around some more. If I was in more of a mood to go out and spend money on partying etc then I would be more motivated to hit the town every night but I think I am just trying to focus on grinding back up to where I can party comfortably again. I also would like to get a place in l.a. to my self so I can have a bit more freedom there but it is still great to be with my family when i'm back in town.
Also, I wish Sebok didn't have to supposedly censor my rap blogfessionals but I guess he just wants me to keep it more PG with the swearing. FUCK THAT freestyle rapping is about freedom of expression it can be hard for me to not curse. But I guess I'll try
