Well not exactly, more like a nightmare. I got into L.A. yesterday on the start of my 6-week plus road trip only to discover that I have arrived in a mini-hell. Not that I know anyone who likes to visit L.A., but this hotel is one of a kind. Normally im a lazy ass, booking my trips with less then a weeks notice, but this trip I actually booked more then a month in advance!! Too bad Commerce rooms were all booked so they referred me to the doubletree down the street, which I ended up booking my 24-night stay at. They gave me a online poker rate which saved me $20 a night (Woo Hoo!!), but the reservation was non-refundable/cancellable. I figured it wouldn't be a big deal since I had heard of other doubletree hotels and they seemed fine, and I knew I would be staying here for my whole trip. Well I got here and into my room and im like WTF? There's no safe in the room (not too big of a deal, I'll just get a box at commerce), no mini-bar (i hate that), but worst of all the blinds are horrible. Apparently someone decided it would be a good way to cut costs, installing half blinds that don't even come close to with-in 6 feet of each other. Sure they have the light shade that comes across the whole way, but this thing never blocks the sun, and I was woken up bright and early at 7:30 AM this morning from the sunlight. They could have saved money if they were really thinking by not putting in alarm clocks, the sunrise does enough. This is gonna be especially annoying to me since every poker tournament starts at 3pm out here, Oh well.

Big congrats to Gavin, taking down the WPT Borgata and becoming the 1st ever to win an EPT, WPT and WSOP event. At least they can't take this record away from ya (at one time he was youngest ever WSOP bracelet winner, since passed 4 times), others can only join ya. It's funny how things work, but when a good friend takes down a major title it inspires most (myself included) to match his feat. Hopefully I can add something to my resume on this west coast trip. After the LAPC, I'll be heading to the Wynn for about a week to play some prelims, then off to Bay101 for the shooting stars event, then back to Vegas for the Wynn Classic Main event. Hopefully something good will happen.

Until Then-
