Bay 101 Shooting Star Next Up on WPT Schedule
Following a very successful LAPC at Commerce Casino, which produced arguably one of the most star-studded final tables in WPT history (Phil Ivey, Phil Hellmuth, Nam Le, and Quinn Do), everyone will now head north to San Jose for the Bay 101 Shooting Star event.
The $9,600 (+$400) buy in tournament will take place March 10th through the 14th at the Bay 101 casino, and will be run by Tournament Director Matt Savage. Play will commence at 10:30am PST with each player starting with a 20,000 chip stack. The levels will be one hour in length and will start with 25-50 blinds.
The one-of-a-kind event features a $5,000 bounty player at each table for each of the initial starting days. The list of bounty players on the first starting day include: Phil Ivey, Todd Brunson, Gus Hansen, Gavin Griffin, John Juanda, Nam Le, Michael Mizrachi, J.C. Tran, David Pham, Erik Seidel, David Williams, Men Nguyen, Bill Edler, Hoyt Corkins, Chau Giang, Kristy Gazes, Layne Flack, Chad Brown, Vanessa Rousso, Scotty Nguyen, Joanne Liu, Roy Winston, Jerry Yang, John Cernuto and Kenna James.
The bounties for the second starting day are: Barry Greenstein, Allen Cunningham, Antonio Esfandiari, Joe Sebok, Josh Arieh, T.J. Cloutier, Eli Elezra, Ted Forrest, Mike Gracz, Joe Hachem, Jennifer Harman, Dan Harrington, Phil Hellmuth, Phil Laak, Kathy Liebert, Erick Lindgren, Tom McEvoy, Mike Matusow, Isabelle Mercier, Gavin Smith, Jennifer Tilly, Mimi Tran, Amir Vahedi, Cyndi Violette and Robert Williamson III.
Last year’s Bay 101 Shooting Star event drew 450 entries, creating a prize pool of $4,490,000. The final 45 players were all guaranteed at least $15,000 with the eventual champion receiving a check for $1,100,000. The final 10 players included well known professionals Ted Forrest, Joanne Liu, James Van Alstyne, Bill Edler, Joe Sebok, Jeff Madsen and Danny Smith. The TV table payouts were:

Bay 101 is known for its raucous fans and their support of the event. Expect people to be lined up three and four deep around the poker room barrier. The PokerRoad crew is in route to San Jose to produce new episodes of PokerRoad Radio beginning Monday the 10th.
