Borgata Bound
After last month’s successful World Poker Tour Legends of Poker Tournament in Los Angeles, poker pros dispersed around the globe to compete in a variety of international events. With the APT, the Partouche, the APPT and the EPT, the last few weeks have seen poker players on seemingly every corner of the globe. But now, with the return of the WPT and the Borgata Poker Open, many big name pros are back in the U.S. and aiming once again for their chance at World Poker Tour glory.
The Borgata Poker Open, September 14th -18th, is a $9,600 + $400 buy-in event with a guaranteed prize pool of at least $5,000,000. Players will start with a very generous 40,000 in tournament chips, and the blind levels will be 75 minutes long with the first level beginning at 25-50.
Last year’s Borgata Poker Open attracted 560 entrants and created a prize pool worth $5,432,000. First prize for the event was $1,575,280 and was taken down by Roy “The Oracle” Winston (at that time just Roy Winston), who bested one of the toughest WPT final tables of the season, which included Mike “The Mouth” Matusow, Heung Yoon, Mark Weitzman, Eugene Todd “Bro” and Big Poker Sunday’s Haralabos Voulgaris.
