Default Transitioning from 9 handed games to 6 max

Talking to a friend of mine who has a lot more experience online than I do, he was telling me that 9 handed games are all about percentages and 6 max is better poker and one can make more money.

I'd love to hear strategy and tips on 6 max poker and the big differences in solid play. How should my range change in different positions and what hands should I be 3 betting?

This is my exact strategy for beating 6 max.

9 max is 6max everytime the first 3 players fold, so just play 6max like you would in the relative positions

I use this only in the mixed games and at lo limits. But definitely +1.

I don't play poker. But, 6 max turbo at the micro was my strongest game.

Why?

1. You get to see more flops. If you are a strong post flop player, you get an advantage.
2. Mid-range hands become more valuable. This makes play ability more important. A lot of hands are playable.
3. You get more reads. With only 6 players, it is easier to concentrate on betting patterns.
4. Reduced time between hands encourages gambling and player disorientation. But, it is somewhat balanced by reduced time-to-wait required for good hands.

Play about 5-8% more hands than you would normally play and 3 bet a ****load more in position. What limits would you be moving to? I usually like to see a lot more aggression in position than OOP.

Remember that you are getting hit with a blind 33% more of the time. You definately need to open your game up more.
