profit per hour cash games
i read somewhere that you should expect 1 1/2 bets per hour playing in cash games as an average. do you feel this is correct ? it seems small but i am relatively new to cash games and i am wondering if i am playing to many hands.
thanks

There are so many variables. What kind of game is it? How many recreational players? How good of a player are you?
Not everyone wins, not everyone wins the same... so many things will affect your bb/hr.

Depends also if you get rakeback on the site and how many tables you play at one time.

That's big bets per hour, for a limit game live. Most middle stakes LIMIT pros are striving to earn at least 1 BB/hour in the $30-$60 to $80-$160 levels, and that's a reasonble number and not as easy to achieve as it would seem on the surface, particularly when you're playing in a game with a lot of regular pros.
If you're playing small stakes, a good target win rate should be much higher as the players are much worse.
If you're playing NL instead of limit, again it should be higher due to the big bet nature of the game.
If you're playing online instead of live, it should be higher due to the number of hands/hour you're seeing (which is why most online talk about BB/100 hands, not by the hour)... in an hour of live play you might see 30-35 hands, where as in an hour online you'll see at least double that on 1 table. If your win rate live is 1.5BB/hour, that's like saying 1.5BB/30-35 hands, so in twice as many hands you should expect to win on average 3BB.

While you do see many more hands in an online game, this does not garantee you you will make more money. Players live are simply worse, that with the fact that there are many more tells live....I find live to be a much easier spot. With that said, the rake is bigger live and there is tipping and a lot of times there is a bat beat jackpot drop.

For myself with rakeback on the sites I play cash I normally like to see at least 5bb/hr, but am much happier with 10bb/hr and either of those numbers is easy to achieve at the .10/.25 to .50/1 range for cash. Just make sure you're rolled to play the level and you can easily achieve those numbers. They don't seem high, but over an 8 hour period of time you're talking 40-80bb/day which can amount to a lot over a week or month's time.

All true... I didn't mean to imply that a 2 BB/hour win rate in a live game translates to a player having an expectation of 4BB/hour online assuming exactly double the hands seen... there are definitely other factors involved.

Rachel from Long Beach, you do not need profit per hour tips from us mere mortals as you crush these games on a consistent basis.

I know. I was just asking for all of the people that might be too scared to ask for themselves.
