Is The Durrrr Challenge Getting Stale?
I wonder what Poker Roaders think about the ongoing Durrrr Challenge (I've gotten to the point that I don't remember how many "r's" are in Durrrr anymore!). Is it still compelling? Newsworthy? Meanigful? Is it a story still have legs? Is it stale? Is it a handful of players withs egos as massive as their bankroll that none of us could ever possibly relate to? Is it more about those massive egos than the hands they play? Is it time for it the Challenge to end?
This is not an indictment of the Challenge, just musings about the significance, past, current and future.

it got stale about 10 months ago when we realised they wouldn't be playing 10k hands every week!

No one does. We all stopped caring before the WSOP.

Not to mention that the Isildur challenge put the final nail in the coffin of this challenge's relevance.

Our general ennui may change if the margin is close as they draw near the end of the challenge, and the $1.5 million (or half-million) part of the prop starts to figure heavily. But that seems like a long way from now. Plus, it's tough to anticipate where the lead will be once we get to 48,000 hands or so.
This whole thing reminds me of my approach to an NBA game -- I rarely have much interest in the first place, and am generally bored regardless of who is playing. But if I happen to catch one coming down to the wire, you can't drag me away from the set.
