There are people out there who DO have certain abilities, seeing auras, smelling colors, etc. The human brain has many unknown functions and unused sectors. Maybe Phil is simply more in tune with his own extra dimensional psyche than most people. I've heard Joe Rogan talking to Alex Jones about an idea he calls the "Fart Principle," and it is simply a hypothetical theory about the world around us. We experience the world around us through senses we've developed over time, i.e. smell, taste, sight. He brings up the notion that if you were to pass gas in a crowd of people, and no one was able to smell it or hear it, no one would know you did it. Perhaps there are other substances, auras or realms of existence which we can't sense because we don't know how to sense it. These are what we have come to know as extra dimensions, other ways of looking at things we can hardly understand right now. If you have ever heard of Dimetheltryptamine (DMT), the substance you excrete while you sleep, then you've probably had some questions about your own purpose in life on this planet. No one knows why you dream, but it is essential for life. DMT is released by your Pineal Gland, which is essentially a physical third eye. It's smack in the center of your brain and it releases this HEAVY psychedelic substance every night while you sleep, transporting your mind into other realms where you can fly, build, say, experience anything.. and it's unpredictable, though based on events that have happened during waking consciousness... in some people sometimes things that haven't happened yet in waking life. Maybe Phil's unknowingly more in tune with his psychedelic reception and it somehow makes him better at poker.
Maybe he's just good at what he does haha.
Oh and I like the Alex Grey avatar onesandzeros :P

Although I wouldn't dismiss anything you've said, I think the answer may be quite simple. Btw, I dosed on DMT twice. It's almost like every kind of hallucinogenic drug, combined into one twisted trip. The closest I've ever been to that kind of high was when I smoked a whole "sherm stick" (aka "happy stick", aka cigarette dipped in PCP). Anyways, where was hIgh? lol
Oh yea, Phil's extraordinary-"like" abilities..
Simply put, I think Phil works harder and focuses more than even your best, top pros. When he's dialed in, he's dialed the **** in! His attention to body language and player's patterns (or habits/tendencies) is incredible. I'm often amazed, when I sit down to play, at how "unfocused" most players actually are while they're playing. But a guy like Phil, with his drive and thirst for action (and good results), goes beyond the norm when it comes to staying focused and reading his environment. He seems to always be aware of the flow of the game, the players' mindsets, and just a general sense of what's really going on.
My question is, what balances that super side of him? Is it his degen craps playing? Maybe he's bipolar? Maybe he's got some kind of weird fetish, who knows!? But I'd be curious to know what super weaknesses he might have. (Not that he has to have any imo)
If I ever get hit by a falling luckbox, like I actually hit the lotto, I would love to play him heads up. Just to see how bad the beating would actually be. I would paint myself pink and wear a name tag that says "PinkPhaggit" (didn't want to offend) for an opportunity like that! My dream!!!

I read somewhere a quote from Ted Forest maybe in one of Doyle's books where he said something to the effect of 'some players have an amazing ability to see the truth in situations'.
His balance is key to this imo. Zen like.

Synesthesia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia smelling colours it is nothing special, just a funky disability. It does not imply an increase in sensory perception. Auras are not real, nobody can see them because they do not exist. The human brain does not have any unknown functions or unused sections. Also, Santa is a fictional character and we are all at least 4-dimensional beings as time is the fourth dimension.

Given that gravity warps time... Phil is not subject to the force of gravity... this leaves an unaltered paradox of time that Phil Ivey controls... He is not subject to standard rules of physics... He uses these gifts to crush souls on the felt...
