Arrow Own Ivey (.com) - Fantasy Poker by Poker Players

Hey folks,

I wanted to give let you in on a project that just replaced my typical freelance work at the WSOP (thank you Black Friday.) I jumped on board to do marketing, photography and writing with a couple of guys from Deuces Cracked that built a website for one of my favorite summer pastimes, Fantasy Poker. It just went live the other day. You can check it out here:

OwnIvey.com - Fantasy World Series 2011

I know you guys know how this works and I know you might be surprised to see me using a salary cap and cash system. Well, A) it's easier and B) I'm not programming it, so they get their own way.

If you have any questions about the site or how it works please let me know. Because the site is so new if there are any bugs or any difficulties with navigation or suggestions we REALLY need to hear about it from you. Even if you don't play (and it has a free mode for the folks with their bankrolls still stuck on UB/FTP) please please tell me so I can try to fix it. It won't hurt our feelings - I just want to help them make a better product. To a point, I know it's still getting a lot of dents knocked out, so you are starting up in Beta, for lack of a better term.

Obviously there's no obligation here, but if you do want to just throw my cranky old ass a bone, here are some things you could do:

1) Like us on facebook: Ownivey | Facebook

2) Follow us on twitter: Twitter

3) If you want to be a bit more active, sign up for an account at the site (it's free), draft a team of players, and enter the team into a league. If you want to compete for money, great, but you're also very welcome to compete for free - you'll see that many of our leagues have a $0 entry fee. It's set up with PayPal so you are secure on both ends and thanks to the rediculous carve out of the UIGEA -- you can gamble online about fantasy poker, but you can only fantasize about playing poker online. Fun, huh?

4) If you don't want to do that, how about just drafting a team and emailing/PMing me who you chose? You can even do that without registering an account (just make sure you select 10 players and spend less than the F$1,000 cap). Believe it or not that actually IS helpful - Tecmo and OwnIvey like data an we have a lot of ideas for how it can be interpreted, but before I do that they need some input, so I'm hoping to see my stalwarts here throw their hats in the ring. Seeing who is getting picked by a lot of users is vital information for me. Who am I kidding -- you guys will at LEAST play a free team, right? Private tournies are coming, but for now, just pick a tournament number and post it here. We have 10 man, 100 man and heads up challenges -- so knock yourself out, have grudge matches, challenge the PokerRoad gods themselves.

5) Tell your friends, especially if you know any who are involved in poker or who you think may be interested in the site.

I know Sports Geek has been really cool with poker road and I'm not trying to snatch anything away from them here or just 'shill' (gawd I've come to hate that word) for OwnIvey.com, but to help a bunch of guys that love and have been dedicated to poker for a long time get something off the ground. My hope for the next stage is a more robust offering for the WSOP-E, a WPT tour and even a Global Monster like we did here. I'm not lucky enough to have a 6th Wilbury running stats, so I hope these guys can handle it. I feel like this site has put a lot more work into things from a Poker Fan's perspective and all the work we did here with online spreadsheets and forum banter is taking shape on the site. So, how about taking a bit and drafting a team, kicking it into the fray (you can design as many teams as you want and play them vs. whomever is available) and even taking me -- RuntCake -- on.

I definitely don't want anyone to feel like they have to do anything, but I will say that I would appreciate anything anyone does. A lot of the above things will only take a few minutes. All I'd ask is that, if you're going to help, please do it soon. The World Series of Poker starts on May 31st, so we're trying to do as much as we can before that time. I hit town on 3 June, I hope some of you make it out there with me.

This sounds cool. Are we forming a league on your site? And for how much?

I'm definitely interested although I might be a bit handcuffed when it comes to depositing money. Due to my recent episode, I have no valid credit card at the ready (they're in the mail). If I can get something on here in time for the WSOP, count me in for sure for anything in the $10-$50 range.

Also, can we find out if private leagues are available? Maybe a league that is password protected, so that only fellow PokerRoaders play. The site will still get their 10 percent juice, so I can't imagine they would object. It would be more of a logistical issue for the site.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to say hey, let you know I'm also available for any questions you may have, and to say we're really excited to have Matt on board! I'm subscribed to this thread and will definitely reply to any issues anyone brings up here.

To answer The 6th Wilbury's question, we are adding private leagues. It is at the absolute top of our priority list now that we have added free leagues and I think it should be active in a day or two.

6th, if a PokerRoad league forms and you don't yet have the ability to deposit I'll talk to the programming team and get you set up. We'll get you into the league, let you draft a team, and we'll take care of money later. I know you're an active PR member and have done a lot of work on the fantasy leagues here in the past, so I'll make sure you get taken care of.

We are putting a TON of hours into the site right now and expanding it literally on a daily basis. What I really want to know from you guys is, what do you want to see? Our background is as poker players, so we're building the features we would want, but we also want your opinion. I've read basically all of the old fantasy poker threads on PR so I've seen your alternative formats (Pick 2, POY races) - would there be interest in leagues using those scoring systems?

Hey guys,

Tecmo here. I'm a reg over at DeucesCracked so if you are too, hi!

I'm available to answer any questions you have so don't hesitate to ask.

I want to point out that we allow registration even after the WSOP starts, but any results that occur before your league becomes active obviously won't count so it's definitely a good idea to get your teams in before the 31st!

And to add on to what ownivey said, private leagues should be up VERY soon (they have tested successfully on our test site) so start registering and making your teams today!

We built the site because we are part of the poker community and wanted to see it done right. We're a small group, but hopefully we can deliver on that goal. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

6th, happy to ship you whatever fund you need onto Paypal and you can hit me back when you recover your cards.

Until the private leagues get going, we can always just pick random tournament number, post it here and go from there...thoughts?

Also, I challenge the 6th Wilbury to a heads up match!!

Knowing real value of current players is part of the game sir!

I'll crank up a private league tonight and post it. "The Jesus" is always a contender at the WSOP...it brings out the best in him...but will
he show?

You know, I didn't notice this site takes PayPal... I'm good to go then, assuming we keep the buy-in low (I only keep a few hundred on PayPal).

Also...

There's no money in heads up, everyone's solid.
