Default Weird Hand .25/.50 Home game.

Hey guys first post here. Weird hand came up wanted some opinions.

Blinds .25/.50 3 handed.

BU/ $90 (Villain)
SB/ $25
BB/ $75 (Hero)

Villain is LAG pre-flop and TAG post flop but is capable of sniffing out weakness and betting scary cards. He has shown a couple bluffs on the river and I've never seen him bluff raise river. He likes to passively play draws and also is capable of slow playing bigish hands even on wet boards. My image is LAG but I've been winning and showing down strongish hands the last 30 mins.

Villain limps pre.
SB calls.
I raise to $2.50 with AJss.
Villain calls.
SB folds.

Flop: 6 6 4 two spades.
I bet $4. Villain calls with little hesitation.

Turn: K of spades.
I bet $8. Villain tanks for 1 minute and calls.

River 10 hearts.
I bet $16 dollars. Villain tanks, mutters about how he has to go with his gut and how I've been showing great hands. About 2 minutes after he starts tanking he makes its $46 to go.

I....?

I really wanted to fold here because of the speech and I've never seen him bluff raise the river. If I had anything lower than the nut flush there I would lay it down no problem.

Comments?

Be patient, grasshopper. And welcome. I am interested in this one, too.

I am betting more on the flop so I am betting more on the turn. I guess I am smiling on the river although his boat may be floating where I am sinking.

Imo hes rarely raising inferior flush like never this is pretty clearly a fold. 99.9922% of low limit players are never bluff raising the river. Is he he bad enough to be doing this for value? And welcome btw we are in need new blood.

Thanks all for warm welcomes.

No i don't think he's bad enough to bet inferior flush there but he was losing and I've seen him bluff quite a few times that night. I ended up calling and he showed me the 6 4 dd for flopped boat =)

Turn tank makes it a fold imo. He's either weak or Hollywooding. IF he's weak, he doesn't raise this river 'cas 98% of players aren't good enough to bluff-raise the river (only weak hand he raises the river w/ is TT and that's no longer weak). IF he's Hollywooding, it's either a flush or a boat. We don't beat boats so should fold and flushes would either raise the turn or raise smaller on the river (imo). Even w/o the turn tank, I would expect very few players w/ weak flushes to flat turn and then put a s*** ton in on the river (seriously, what does he expect to call him that's worse???). So yeah, probably a fold... just... but not gonna lie, I am very capable of throwing a call in here as well. VERY capable.

I think it's a fold....the speech really does it for me. And it's tough to do so given our hand strength. I think there is a deliberate amount of hollywooding going on...going from "going with my gut" to a pot sized raise just stinks of him knowing you have a strong flush. Live, at least for me, this is a fold AINEC.

5carab you are a legend... honored to see you in my first post. Same for all the regs/vets that have posted..

I guess I was hoping for some sort of moron desperation raise. I just can't get away from a pretty little hand like that... dammit

This is very correct. I have mostly got over the worry of being bluffed at low stakes live. Looking for very thin calls at low stakes live is a losing proposition. This goes all the way up to $5/$10. The number of times you're right will be swallowed by the number of wrong calls. And it's a very difficult thing to come to terms with as I still occasionally struggle with it and have to remind myself what table I am sitting at.
