Attn: Dealers
Quick question. In no limit holdem, if a players declares that they wanna bet the pot.....is it the dealers responsibility to correct them if they put in an incorrect amount?

Not that I play PLO live but I'd assume the dealer would only care if you said pot and tried to bet more than the pot size allowed.

Naw bro, I'm talkin about NLH. And yeah in a live PLO game a dealer can say how much is in the pot.

Im not an expert at all. So, Im not sure. But I'd interpret it as you bet what you bet. Only a number or all-in would be binding.

Saying "I wanna bet" and "I bet" are different.
Reference Rousso v. Gowen with Matusow in the middle and Rousso saying "I think I have to call...." and then Gowen saying "I'm all in," followed by Rousso saying "Whoa!"

In NLH, not only is the dealer not required to count the pot for you, they are not allowed (they can only spread it for you). Therefore, if you say "bet the pot," that isn't a number. Depending on casino rules, you may or may not be bound to make a bet, but the size is certainly not fixed.

ya i think in a nl game it wouldnt be binding, but in a pl game it is for sure and the dealer would tell you how much it is.

Ah, yeah sorry I misread the first post. I wouldn't think that saying you're betting the pot would bind you to do anything.
