KGC issues press release regarding UB situation.
The KGC issued a press release regarding the Ultimate Bet situation. The initial findings name Russ Hamilton as the main person responsible for the various UB incidents. Ultimate Bet also is fined $1,500,000, required to commence refunding all players significantly affected by Nov. 3. Also by Nov. 3, they need to remove any person deemed "unacceptable" from all involvement within the company.

The amount of money taken was crazy, almost as crazy as Gavin was defending Russ on PR.

Gavin knows Russ a lot more than he knows the various critics, so without any other evidence, he's going to defend him.
In my opinion, I think Russ definitely had a part, but the KGC took the ball that was given to them and ran with it, deflecting the blame that Scott Tom and other participants in the scandal had taken before late July.

Russ Hamilton, what say ye now?
At the time, I cringed when I listened to Barry attempt to defend Russ (Joe's toady comments were disregarded as per usual). It appears that Barry did not have a very good read on Russ. The problem with the claim that Russ did not want to speak at the direction of his attorney is that his statements may still be used against him, it simply would require having Barry testify to them. What Russ was able to do is get someone with credibility to effectively defend him and by speaking his words lend credibility to them.
Any interest in a retraction?

here is the response I posted in the thread about this on 2+2
You guys act like I'm a friend of Russ's. I realize that it's hard to follow all the threads about the scandal, but I was the one who first posted about direct links to Russ sending money out of the sleeplesss account, so that should have made it obvious that I wasn't biased in his favor.
I have seen Russ on three or four occasions in my life, all in a poker room except for the meeting I had with him. I have been given more circumstantial evidence against him since the meeting, but I want this to go to trial so we can all get more facts.
I still stand by my suggestion that we let the investigations go forward. And obviously when I was talking about kids who jump to conclusions I was not talking about the thoughtful ones like Nat who did research. Check out posters like Victor, Mookman5, and realwtf for examples on the other side.
I won't be satisfied if this ends up with Russ being the fall guy, but no court case and no prison time.
And to those who think it hurts my reputation that I said "I thought it was less than 50% likely that Russ was behind this after talking to him, but I was sure he knew (after the fact) who was involved," I can only say I don't get it. My reputation is that I'm honest and I'm fair, and I can't see how this has dented it.

I hate it that the Bears name has been dragged into this on the forums. Keep your head up Bear, anyone with a clue knows you are a stand up guy, and I don't think you should be too worried what some random posters have to say about you. I don't even understand how they could make this connection between you and Russ, it really blows my mind. Gotta love the internet.

It will be so sick if Russ doesn't go to jail for this, because of the online poker's legal situation in USA. I don't really know the whole picture (i'm from europe and haven't followed all the UB-scandals fine points), but is this even possible? (meaning= possible to get away without real penalty in real court)

Barry on PokerRoad radio you said, after indicating that you believed Russ would have known some of the cheaters as anyone playing in a game with cheaters would, "I don't now get the feeling that we're gonna say that Russ Hamilton was one of the cheaters." 41 minutes into the show if you would like to check.
I was surprised by that comment, as it put you in the position of endorsing his innocence. Also as noted above, speaking with you merely makes his statements require issuing you a subpoena to get them admitted into evidence.
