I agree with others on the issue of the ads. Seeing three of the same Only Poker ads on the left, right and top of the page is just overkill.

Generally I'd prefer you try to keep it 2 ads per page, maybe ditch one of the side banners and set them up so they don't rotate to the same ad at the same time?

As far as the homepage goes, I think one of the issues that PokerRoad suffers from is appealing to those outside the hardcore fans. There are MILLIONS of poker fans across the globe that would enjoy the hell out of what you guys have to offer.

But if you're Joe Q. Poker and arrive at the PokerRoad homepage you might be confused to just what the heck the site is about. It's not overly clear with the mishmash of features and offerings.

So there needs to be clearer direction spelling out to the first-time visitor what PokerRoad is all about. If they happen to hover over PokerRadio in the main menu they get a drop down with:

Cash Plays
PokerRoad Radio
The Bear Blog
The Poker Beat
Tips From The Bear
Two Jacks In The Hole

Looking at these, a newcomer isn't going to have much of a clue what each show is about, or where they should start, or why they'd want to listen.

Also, you have a great community in the forum here, how about a feed/stream on the homepage to call attention to threads and maybe convert homepage visitors into active producers of content in your community?

Basicly the mainpage has 4 mayor items: news, vids, radio and blogs. But the lay-out is always a bit messy. I would like to see more order. I never like lists that start halfway down the page. You should be able to open the page and in one look see what's available.

I basicly think 4 columns work best with no ads on the sides the keep the whole width for content. A little paint doodling:

Choose color details per section, a bit like the usage of green and blue on the mainpage. Add 2 colors and assign them to each section. Use them consistently. I like the over all look of the site, but it's just messy. Box of content horizontal, box of content vertical, ad in between, another box underneath and a long the side. I don't like sites like that, I don't know where to look.

This response maybe is a bit late, but it might or might not be helpful. It's just my 2 cents.

I have 4 additional suggestions:
1. Consistency of layout and navigation across all pokerroad subdomains. I have gotten lost here so many times I only come back when I miss an iTunes download.
2. Advertising. Since US players are the main market and most of your audience already plays online poker get a new ad set. I think Google Adsense or Amazon Affiliates would generate more revenue if you don't have a paid banner.
3. Consolidate all of your Podcasts into one rss stream so a subscriber gets everyshow.
4. iPhone/Android/Windows Mobile client.
Just my two cents
I dabbled in web design at university and agree with most of what Fei and RGC have already said. Nonetheless here are my 2 cents

Over here on Caro's Poker 1 site, there is a column at the right bottom that streams article names and comments, so you can see a comment and click right to the article. Maybe you could do that for the strategy forums. Conversely, maybe a similar place here with the last five or so shows and guests that we can click on, more effective than a one-time announcement in a forum that doesn't get many more posts and doesn't come up in "new posts."

And it's time to Twit - er - Tweet - a Twitter feed with PR Tweeters, or WSOP feed or whoever you think is most interesting on front page and forums.

Oh yeah, and I never use eye of round for beef stroganoff.

Just report it when you see it so they know it's here.

Don't worry I do. But a fence at the top of the cliff would be better than an ambulance below.

I agree with a lot of what has been said but I think the biggest issue is...Okay, yeah, I'll say it- is content. I know Pokerroad has by far provided the MOST entertainment without much return on investment, and I don't have a solution for that, but I know in the last few WEEKS, Ive clicked on, noticed no new Pokerbeat, no new Pokerroad, no word on Huff n Stapes, and I moved on. I always loved the availabilty of the archives, but I'm 2xs through em...

**Hours Later**

It actually looks really good.
