-SeaGull USA is $229 and will be higher quality than just about anything else in that general range, it's very classic too; can be worn with any clothing and in casual or formal situations. Also automatic. If you want an automatic I can probably come up with a handful more suggestions, but the majority of mechanical watches that cheap will be unreliable.

Other than that most recommendations will be quartz (boo quartz!), and in that case it just comes down to personal preference in a ton of ways.

Things to look out for in a cheap watch:
- Make sapphire crystal a priority. Mineral crystal scratches a lot and looks ****tier.
- If it'll be your only watch, steel case and steel band. Keep it black or white faced.
- Less than a 38mm case will look small compared to modern style. Bigger than 44 will look huge. Ideal size is 40-42 on anyone with normal wrists.

Brands to consider include Seiko, Citizen, Wenger, Armani, basically anything you like for quartz. But keep the above in mind. Also, don't buy Invicta.

^ ty i saw a nice looking Bulova similar to this: Bulova Men's 'BVA-Series' Stainless Steel Automatic Watch | Overstock.com
I thought it looked pretty nice and seemed decent quality for the price, any thoughts on something like that?

Yeah. I mean, mineral isn't AWFUL (and nor is Bulova as a brand in that price range), but Sapphire really prolongs the lifespan of the watch because mineral scratches pretty easily. I'll come up with some other cheap automatic suggestions and post them, but there honestly aren't a lot that will be decent quality (Sea-gull is a rare exception to that rule).

Options that are automatic/steel band/sapphire crystal/well sized:

Starting with my fav (the one mentioned above):

^-SeaGull USA

^ Seiko Black Dial Automatic Stainless Steel Automatic Mens Watch SNZH45

^Seiko 5 Sports Silver Dial Automatic Mens Watch SNZH79

^ Seiko Silver Dial Stainless Steel Automatic Mens Watch SNZH35

There really aren't a lot more options, def. some more Seikos though. It will be totally impossible to find a Swiss watch with these features in this price range, and Sea-Gull and Seiko are pretty much the 2 best quality Asian brands imo.

Also I can come up with way more suggestions with a higher budget, these are all 150-200ish.
