The Poker Beat - June 10
Some combination of Nemeth, Welman, Michalski, Wise, Huff should get together sometime this afternoon to discuss the goings on at the WSOP and other burning issues in the poker community.
Possible topics:
Men Nguyen wins bracelet #7
Tom Dwan almost wins bracelet #1 along with several million dollars
PokerStars "The Big Game" debuts next week (preview hand now online)
27th WSOP TOC seat given in a one table SNG (Elky, Boeree, Mizzi, Bloch, Dwan, Grinder, Wasicka, Hansen, Don Cheadle).

I haven't listened to the show yet, but Men Nguyen is the perfect example of someone whose behavior has greatly diminished his accomplishments as a player and teacher. Surely, Men is the Ty Cobb of poker.

The WSOP Academy SNG was not streamed live, it's going to air in July.
It was a Quizno's contest, not Subway that got the sponsor's exemption. Also, Party Poker had THREE sponsor exemptions (Sexton, Hansen, Mike O'Malley) in 2006.

How soon we forget Ville Wahlbeck, four 10k+ final tables last year, unless Huff mean three 10k FT's in a row?
That's before I listened to BJ mention him.
As to Men on TV, he made the final table of the US Poker Championship in Atlantic City last year, that was supposed to air on Spike.

Can you name that tune
Good show.
What's the song that was played at the close? I know it's been used before, and I forgot to ask last time.
--Edit--
Found that jh00k answered that very question in the thread for the May 20 show - Rill Rill by Sleigh Bells

Sigh...I didn't forget Ville. He was my #2 draft pick in the PR forum fantasy draft and I may as well have drafted me.

Regarding the exclusivity issue, the World Poker Tour decided years ago to have CardPlayer handle the "exclusive" rights. In the process, PokerWire, who had experienced chip counters, was forced to close up shop and we also lost the podcast with Seebs, Huff, Smith, Stapes, Leatherman, etc.

On the plus side, if that didn't happen, PokerRoad.com might not exist today. (The radio show needed to find a home, and Huff, Stapes, and Leatherman needed work.)
I would love to get in a full-on debate about tournament reporting coverage and how it should be done, but I'd probably just piss off a lot of people who may be in a position to hire me someday. As you might guess, I have very strong feelings on the issue.
I am also extremely proud of the WPT Live Updates, where I work with Jessica Welman (encyclopedia of online players) and Andy Liakos (chip counter extraordinaire). Are our updates perfect? Of course not. But they are solid and reliable, and on the final two days of a major tournament I feel that we really step up the coverage to a level where no other live updates are even close.
