Default The Poker Beat - June 24

It's time for a new week of the Poker Beat with these possible topics:

Phil Ivey wins bracelet #8
Frank Kassela wins 2nd bracelet of WSOP, does anybody really care?
Does the WSOP POY need to be fixed?
Time magazine does an article on the "math brats" of poker

Some of this and more on this week's Poker Beat.

Don't know if you've recorded the show yet but can you mention the New Zealand court decision ruling poker tournaments are not gambling and .net advertising does nto promote gambling?

no problem, just being patriotic. The story is here for anyone interested: New Zealand Court Rules Poker Tournaments are not Gambling | PokerNews Interestingly for me I haven't found this reported anywhere in New Zealand.

The reason Ivey is able to win bracelets so easily despite the game evolving is, at least in part, that he doesn't win no limit hold'em. He's the best, no doubt about it, but his edge in no limit isn't big enough and the fields aren't small enough to win bracelets with regularity. However, the limit games haven't reached the same level as hold'em and the fields haven't blown up enough so he can just keep beating people with horrifying efficiency.

+1

He's the best because he plays all the games great. This gives him a significant edge over every field but NL mtt's.
