I really need to make sure I apologize to Tatjana the next time we're hugging and laughing with one another.

But I respect the listeners of our show, even if I'm telling them not to listen.
This has not gone unnoticed by me. Thank you. I mean that. I think one just needs to look at how you handled yourself in this thread and how Gary Wise handles himself here and it's more obvious than ever why I don't take Wise seriously. He is a petulant child, who must "win", on the panel or in this thread. But your professionalism once again shines through, and my respect for you, already very high, has grown.

BJ, if I was super critical towards you, it is only because I think you are worth so much to the show when you are "on". You have precise information and knowledge. I even named you to my "All-Star" team of Huff, Michalski, Welman, Nemeth. If I was harsh, it is only because I care enough to be harsh, as dumb as that sounds. Also, don't get me wrong - there is no doubt you have always been a net positive on The Poker Beat, on every show. But since this July 8 show was bad enough to cause me to write, I figured I might as well say things that maybe didn't bother me enough to quit the show, but still were correctable detractions.

I am willing to bet that we actually have similar personality types. We both see criticism far more than we do praise. I'm guessing you are a perfectionist. I also think criticism is more valuable overall, as praise is too easily given these days.

When you fail to do that, you lose some credibility right from the start. (They'll tell you the same thing in business/communication classes, and they're correct.)
If you new how I was writing the responses, I think you'd be more forgiving here. Basically I had to hit "Quote", copy and paste the output it into Wordpad, and then bring it with me while riding a train. Twice. Obviously I didn't have Internet access while writing to look up your names, but I did have time to kill. Perhaps too much. Anyway, point taken about the names, I obviously agree.

Yep. That definitely describes me. I prefer specific praise and criticism to the more general "mom criticism" or "troll criticism" you usually hear.

"I love your show!" doesn't tell me much. "I really like the news briefs, because you pack a lot of information into a short span of time" gives me some data points to work with. Alternatively, "Your show sucks" is worthless criticism to me, while "The news briefs focus too much on tournaments/politics/TV" is useful, even if I disagree.

When I re-read your comment the second time, I gave you the benefit of the doubt. I hate to admit I was biased by such a minor thing as a misspelled name in the first place, but I'm pretty sure I was. It's just one of those factors that years of experience add up to tell you, "This guy misspelled your name when the spelling was right there in front of him. Odds are good that he's either angry or stupid, and possibly both."

I don't think that now, but that's what my brain was telling me when I first read your comment.

jdns, if you really want to discuss things objectively, I've be happy to have a private conversation addressing your complaints. The "petulant child" reaction you're referring to is what you get when you address these issues in a public forum in posts full of pre-determined vitriol. If you want me to address you like an adult, behave like one.

PM Me if you're up for a serious discussion.
