Jess,
I had thought the same thing. However, that was sold to a different company, check the link to Wiki in post 9.

hrmmm...I'm getting a blank Wiki page when I click on the link. You're right that it isn't listed on Harrah's website as a property though. Too bad the Margaritaville Casino plans in Biloxi were put on hold...think of all the tournament theme possibilities...

Wow, this thread alone has me yelling at my computer to download faster.
At risk of asking a question that has been answered in a previous thread (although you'd think I of all people would remember), what is the short answer for why the NAPT is unable to lock up locations for the upcoming season? Is it a function of having PokerStars as the organizing body?
Put another way, if the NAPT were to separate itself into its own entity like the WPT, then become sponsored by PokerStars (as opposed to being owned by the site), could the NAPT then resume holding tournaments in Las Vegas and other places?
Cool. Loaded. Listening now.

Regarding the UB thing and the general poker players awareness of the scandal there I'd like to offer a bit of anecdotal evidence.
I play a home game on Fridays that has about 20 regular players. All of these people are playing home games twice a week, all but a couple play online on stars or tilt.
Noone else at the game follows poker news (outside of ESPN's WSOP coverage not that that is news per se) and I would estimate only two or three players there would be aware that UB was involved in a cheating scandal at all. Noone in this group plays on UB (primary reason being player numbers compared to the big two).

ub segment
Did Gary W. set a personal goal to see how many times he could say ultimately during the Ultimate Bet segment?

So - out of the 20 regs - 15% are aware of the scandal, I can believe that. Although poker is now mainstream, and basic knowledge/acceptance of the game is the majority (at least from my frame of reference), I the poker news subculture is a very tiny percentage of that. 15% of the semi-serious population is probably a decent estimate of how many people are actually aware of the site's issues. Edit: I think it might be higher, maybe like 25%

A Long Shot is Better than No Shot
True, the Samuel McMaster Jr story is pretty silly, but consider the victims. Obviously they'd like to see both; but if given a choice between sending the guy to jail or a slim chance of getting their money back, they'll take the money. There is a way this could work, given ideal conditions, in spite of very long odds.
If said con man is able to play better than break even poker while mega-tabling for say 18 hours daily, the rake back could cover his nut. Actually, the idea of this criminal being stuck in ultra grinder's perdition with no chance of financial gain almost qualifies as punishment. Almost!
NOTE: This BTW is my last contrarian post. This time i mean it.
