Ok, so I figured out the numbers for rake for the Durrr challenge. I hope I'm not repeating someone who said this, but I believe that Tom and Patrik are going to pay approx $25,000 total in rake.

50,000 hands * $0.50 per hand rake.

Is this a ridic amount of rake or what?!?!?

Patrick's definitely going to get it back, and I wouldn't be surprised if durr worked something out with full tilt to get most/all of it back due to all the publicity generated because of it.

I mean, the coverage it's getting on fulltilt.com leads me to believe that something was worked out.

It does bring up an important point though, the rake (in all poker, not just this challenge) is a bitch. Pay attention to it next time you play live, it adds up quick.

The 3-1 odds doesnt mean he thinks he's 3-1 fav to come out ahead. Suppose he believed he was 50-50 to come out ahead but that his average win would be over a million more than his average loss. Then it would still be a good bet for him as his EV would be 0.5 * (0.5M + Avg Win) - 0.5 * (1.5M + Avg Loss) = 0.5 * (Avg Win - Avg Loss - 1M) > 0
