Default Annie Duke on Celebrity Apprentice

I thought the discussion from this weeks show was great. But one thing I thought they forgot to touch on was just how charitable poker players are looking on the show. Almost every episode Annie makes a few calls and solidifies upwards of 20K for her team. Sometimes her donations are proving to be the difference. And Joan Rivers even mentioned how charitable poker players are in episode one. I think that's great for the games image and I was suprised that no one brought it up.

Now we have another thing to blame for the side games drying up. Someone needs to put an end to Annie Duke and the donations she is receiving.

I think it's a meta game strategy.

she also called her a typical poker player like it was a bad thing.

yah I know... I was adding what they forgot to mention... My point was that I think Huff over reacted with regards to the negative implications that her comments had on the general poker community. At the end of the day it's just Joan River's opinion, which is subjective. What is objective fact is that the poker community has donated more money to charity then any other represented demographic on the show. We're not coming off as sly underhanded manipulators, we're coming off as generous wealthy folk. Which I think is great for the game.

I think the problem with interviews like this is that a certain segment of the viewers are going to form their opinions on the subject (in this case poker) based just on those brief soundbites. They may not know anything about poker, Annie Duke or even the Apprentice but for lack of any personal experience they will adopt the speaker's opinion as their own.

I actually watched the Apprentice tonight for the first time ever and enjoyed it. I am not a big Annie Duke fan, I actually find her annoying in most cases, but I think she comes across as intelligent and well spoken in the show. From what little I saw I think it is good exposure for poker.
