The Poker Beat - April 23rd at 1pm
It feels a bit strange posting this, but just in case there's a show this week, some stuff that could be featured.
Justin Shronk tribute
WPT Championship review/EPT San Remo review
WSOP Media Guide online (check Pokerati.com to download it for yourself)
ESPN TV released (scheduled to change) - Only 4 tournaments shown (one of which a charity tournament), all NL events.
The WSOP Champions Invitational, 25 people playing for a trophy and a car.
The public choosing people for possible election to the Poker Hall of Fame.
Probably something about Annie Duke on Celebrity Apprentice.
Some other stuff that I didn't think of, plus someone making a "Tight Laydown" hopefully today on The Poker Beat.

I think a huge story is the ESPN schedule of broadcasts of this years WSOP.
They show a lot of re runs over the Winter and leading up to the next years event. With only the limited amount of taping there doing this year coupled with the events they chose I wonder what in the world they are thinking.
The charity event as most of them are is a good cause, but with so many Americans in need of help from natural disasters there should be some time and effort put into our Country to.
Secondly I would rather see Poker than MOVIE stars trying to play the game.
But that is just me. There is going to be 57 events? The FT had 2.65 million viewers, who says Poker on TV is in a downswing.
I hope Gary and Dan and John along with BJ hit this topic hard.
Thanks Lon.....

They are only doing 4 tournaments, but they're expanding the ME coverage, giving each of the four day 1's two hours each. As noted, the schedule is subject to change, and maybe they'll realize that 2 hours of a charity tournament (unless it's going to have a lot of stuff about Darfur and other problems in Africa) is way too much.

Who picks the player's at the Main table for filming at the WSOP ME? Is it a computer draw with ESPN picking a pro or celeb?

They've always said the table draw is random, then ESPN picks two tables for their TV and feature tables.

I can't stream this for some reason so I'll be listening to the podcast later on, but if what you're writing is true and I am not misunderstanding you you're saying this...
50k HORSE won't be televised! ARE YOU FREAKING SERIOUS!!! WORST DECISION EVER!!!!!

At the moment, it won't be televised. Simply put, the casual fan cares little about limit games, mixed games, or any game that isn't NL holdem.

Best Poker Beat yet 4/23
Today's show worked in every way, from beginning to end and was IMO the best one by a long shot.
I have been coming to this site since the very beginning and taking all of the content, but have recently only been visiting for the Two Jacks and PWU.
With the passing of your friend you guys have fought through an incredibly tough time to put together some really touching and high quality "Pokertainment" and for that I am thankful. I take this site for granted as is all to easy to do in life. I think I speak for everyone when I say that for all of the bitching that goes on on the boards, we all are glad that you are all are here.
The shows last nigh and today were an awesome way to shed a little insight on a man that most of us didn't know but were always acutely aware of. We are all better off for it.
Well done, everyone.

I liked the way I was in another world because I knew Star Craft was exploitable.
