Hard to say what effect it had. No, it did not bring an onslaught of new forum members, or we would have seen it. But for all we know it nudged a few curious fans to take a peek.
Besides, I still think the majority of those who watch the WSOP on TV tend to fall into three main categories:
1. ESPN fans who saw it 'cause, well, it's on ESPN. (These people probably are found in bars and waiting rooms.)
2. Casual fans who enjoy watching the WSOP and perhaps other televised poker but don't follow poker much more closely than that. I'll admit this was me prior to PokerRoad.
3. Diehard fans who devour all things poker-related. This includes all of us -- anyone who went through the trouble of creating a forum membership at any site probably falls into this category.
The first group would have little interest in PokerRoad. Of the second, maybe a couple people visited the site and checked out some of the content. The third group already knows about it.

As someone who has launched many projects that never really caught, I'll say this: there's pretty much nothing you can do to "make" things catch. They simply do or they don't.

Agree, agree, agree a hundred times. It's the classic proverb of leading a horse to water.
