Default Negative MGR?

Hey guys. I'm still learning how all this works and I don't understand why I have a negative MGR for December so far. I haven't played any tournaments since starting the account (so no overlays) and I've only cleared one $10 increment of my deposit bonus.

Any idea what's going on?

It's the cleared bonus. You didn't generate enough rake to cover that hit.

What is your Full Tilt Poker screen name? You can let me know via PM and I can check the reports to see what you were deducted for. Generally speaking though, here is a full list of all of the deductions that Full Tilt will take off for:

1. 100% of all bonuses are deducted on Full Tilt Poker. Every time bonus money hits your account, it is subtracted from your overall rake. However, it is always a good idea to take bonuses when they are offered, as you will end up making more money in the long run. For example, if you rake $100 in a month you would normally receive 27% of it back as rakeback payment, which equals $27. However, if you receive a $20 bonus your overall MGR will be deducted to $80. You then would receive 27% of the $80, which equals $21.60. While this is less than $27, when you factor in the $20 you received in rakeback you will have earned $41.60 in extra money on $100 contributed in rake.

2. All of the points you spend on Full Tilt Poker will result in a deduction from your MGR at the rate of $5 deducted per 1,000 points spent.

3. Every time you play in a tournament that has added money, or an ‘overlay’ the players will all evenly be deducted. For example, if there is a $10,000 Guaranteed tournament on Full Tilt Poker with a $10 buy-in and only 900 players sign up to play, Full Tilt is forced to contribute $1,000 to the prize pool. This $1,000 is then evenly deducted from the MGR of the participating players. $1,000 divided by 900 = $1.11 Therefore each player will face a deduction of $1.11from their MGR.

4. There are also cash out and deposit fees on Full Tilt Poker. Every time you deposit money you will generally be deducted between 3-10% of the deposit amount. Cash outs are relatively unknown, as the cost of a cash out varies depending on the processor used. We recommend using paper checks or bank wires, as they are believed to have a small set fee.

This is all assuming that you've been playing on Full Tilt. If you play on another poker room, you can let me know as well and I can loo into it.

Nick
