Default Hand from From Foxwoods 5k-line check

Early in foxwoods 5k, blinds are at 25/50, the effective stacks are 15k. Unknown middle-aged guy open limps the hijack, the button limps (who is a young kid) and i complete 44 in the sb, Josh Arieh checks the bb.

Flop is a very nice 224.

I lead 150, fold, fold, the button makes it 500, i make it 1625. thoughts?

Turn 8 i bet 3k, young kid calls

River 8 i shove for 10.5k into like 9.5k.

Basically im wondering, whats the best line for me to stack 2x (or even a flush). I asked some good players about this and some of them said check the turn. and c/shove the river.

My thought process was were really deep and i want to build a pot, and also have 2x stack off so i took a really aggressive line 3 betting flop, potting turn and slightly overbet shoving the river....

Any merit to just call the flop raise? or checking turn/river.

Thanks
-christian

I would normally call the flop raise because you're representing a Deuce when you reraise out of the blinds. If the button has a Deuce he will keep firing, but if he doesn't he'll often fold to your reraise.

I want to make a lot of money when the button thinks I have a flush draw that he tries to price me out of. This will happen sometimes when he has air, and also when he has a pair. A diamond on the turn will kill the action sometimes, but if he makes a flush I'll win a big pot, although you'll probably get his entire stack the way you played it, and I might not.

Once you get away with the reraise preflop, I think it's better to continue firing since you are subject to getting a check behind when he has less than a flush, but you'll make at least as much when he actually has the flush. And in the cases where he has an overpair, you want to make him pay to hit the two-outer.

If he has a deuce you're getting his whole stack, and this seems the most efficient way to do so. If he has a flush, you get it all. If he has nothing, he's probably quitting at the flop raise to 500 anyways, so I like it. We're oop, we have a big hand, lets do what we need to do to play a big pot.

I prob bet something like 3175 on the turn to make my river shove closer to a PSB.

I like how you played it, I think with the blinds being 25 50 you really have to put in a re-reraise in on that flop if your goal is to try to stack him.

Also I believe re-reraising the flop depends on a few aspects- how did the table perceive you? Have you been caught bluffing dangerous boards etc?

As far as your question on the merit of those decisions, I think you cant check the turn because theres not enough money in the pot to get him to commit the rest of his stack on the river.

He obviously either has a deuce, overpair, or a nut flush draw here. This is why betting hard on three streets is the best way to play it imo.

You can't always expect to get 300 bbs in here and fully double up. I think you did a very good job of playing the hand. Is it possible for you to bet less on the river? I know you have around a pot size bet left but I think a flush reluctantly folds to a shove and might make a crying call against a smaller bet. This board is kind of ****ed after it comes running eights. I mean the only thing that's really calling you here is a flush, quad deuces and he could have quad eights here maybe?? I guess he can occasional have a deuce here as well with A2s 23s 24s K2s I dunno. I really don't think you are getting called by much on the river with a river shove unless you have some super bluffy aggressive image which you probably don't have this early in the tournament.

Another point of interest, if the guy happened to check/raise out of the small blind and you reraise the flop, there's a good possibility I'm open shoving the turn. Most players especially in a 5k at Foxwoods do not have the capability of folding a deuce here.
