Default 300/600 triple draw hand at commerce

A friend of mine was actually hero of this hand and asked me about it, but this forum needs triple draw strategy so what the heck! Game is some 300/600 mix at commerce, villain is a winning mix player who probably falls on the loose aggressive side.

UTG raises, villain 3 bets in late position, my friend calls 2 cold in the BB with 237xy, UTG calls. All draw 2.

Friend catches 23757 and bets out, call, call. He draw 1, they both draw 2.

He bets blind, UTG folds, villain raises, my friend finds an ace and calls and draws 1, villain is pat.

Friend makes a Jack on the end and check/folds.

Thoughts? I know its pretty standard but I'm very curious if anyone finds the play not-so-standard and might for instance look to checkraise after the first draw, or snow after the second draw, or call on the end.

This is just one of those irritating spots in deuce where you just have to shake your head and fold. You feel as though you should be able to do more with your great draw and not let this guy win the hand with some 3578T but I don't think there's anything else you can do about it. Sure you can 3 bet the second draw and wrap pat but I usually like to save those times for when I am drawing a lot rougher and paired. I'd say you can call on the end around 10-15% of the time to keep the guy honest. Additionaly, if I was the villain and I made this play with a 3568J type on hand on the second draw, I would always bet the river.

Is this solely to bluff out smoother jacks?

Sometimes they fold a T, sometimes they call with a Q. Sometimes when they fold they think you bluffed them.

Seems standard to me, I'm not all that great at deuce though....I would love to see more TD strategy.

I think the play is standard on every street and the best way to play the hand. If you plan on ever calling the river, though, I'd seriously prefer leading out yourself. He probably won't fold a better hand... but he might. It's so rare that a player would ever bluff in a spot like this because it looks like you'd get called for sure with so many bets already in the pot. If you get called, and beat, that will definitely be something you can exploit throughout the session by getting some ridiculously loose calls from your opponents.

If we plan on calling the river. How often should we be planning on calling this river here?

Hey Devo,

In general I would call this river about never against a decent player, they just show up with a value betting hand here extremely often, and are used to bad players paying them off having gone from 2 to pat. I'd only call against a really wild opponent. I'm glad to see the consensus is this was a boring standard hand, as I play it the same too, but wanted to make sure some of the more experienced draw players I know we have in this forum didn't find an alternative line "obvious". Hopefully others post some good triple draw or even badugi hands!
