The presence of other great players does not mean the game isn't good. All you need is one or two spots to make for a profitable situation. For these guys, having Hellmuth, TonyG, Chris Ferguson or (especially) Cyril Mouly could be enough to turn it from "hell" to plus-EV.
Add the TV exposure and/or the aforementioned ego boost of beating a game with some of the world's best players, and I can see why this would turn into an attractive situation.
