It's good for the player's individual media exposure as well as good for the site they represent. Also, there is the possibility that some of these players might just have an ego.

The presence of other great players does not mean the game isn't good. All you need is one or two spots to make for a profitable situation. For these guys, having Hellmuth, TonyG, Chris Ferguson or (especially) Cyril Mouly could be enough to turn it from "hell" to plus-EV.

Add the TV exposure and/or the aforementioned ego boost of beating a game with some of the world's best players, and I can see why this would turn into an attractive situation.
