Default Please, Please Somebody Help
The other night I was watching a rerun of the 2006 WSOP bracelet event for limit HE -- Gavin Smith was going for his first bracelet.

Anyway, Eric "Risen" Lynch was also at the table (haven't heard his name mentioned in a long time, but that's something for another thread) and "Bad Moon Risen" jokes started and Gavin Smith believed that it was a Rolling Stones song (I think). He was quickly corrected by another player and Gavin realized he had that song confused with (again, I think) a Stone's song.

I was trying to relate this story to my boss (a poker player and an amateur musician) but for the life of me I could not recall the song that Gavin was confusing with "Bad Moon on the Rise" -- does anyone recall what that song was?

I realize this is such a trivial matter in the overall scheme of things, but to be honest, this has been driving me nuts for a couple days now and if anyone recalls at all, please post so I can get on with my life.

Haven't seen the episode but I'm sure the band you're looking for is Creedance Clearwater Revival

The most likely candidate seems to be The House of the Rising Sun with The Animals version being the most popular.

For starters, I assume you're talking about the 2007 pot-limit event in which he finished second to that Marine (Mike Spegal). I don't remember the conversation, but it's possible Gavin was mistaking CCR's "Bad Moon Rising" for The Doors' "L.A. Woman," the latter of which has that "Mr. Mojo risin'... gotta keep on risin'..." refrain.

When NFL receiver Andre Rison was in his prime, the two Chris Berman nicknames were Andre "Bad Moon" Rison and Andre "Mojo" Rison. So Gavin wouldn't be the first to use the song interchangeably for the same play on words.
