Apart from being on TV i really don't see the appeal of playing on this, usually tough lineup's and you have to pay for your own buy-in. Matt Stout, Shannon Shore and a bunch of other tough interweb guys qualified last year, which is cool to watch but dosn't create much value.

i watched a few minutes this show w/ my gf, who knows i play a lot of live poker, and she was horrified by the appearance of this show. she basically thought everyone looked like a clown or a huge dork, and was concerned that i too wear a hat and sunglasses while i sit around stonefaced contemplating huge raises against fat kids and old guys who look like perverts.

the takeaway: it's very weird to watch poker with someone who doesn't play. this show is not for casual fans.

Ain't this the truth. Every time I've played live, everyone over the age of 60 looks like the kind of person who otherwise would sit in a windowless van, waiting for the local high school to let out.

Yeah, good point... a small-stakes amateur would just as soon keep the money rather than putting their $22K prize package to face a tough winner-take-all, six-max SNG. (Contrast this from Poker After Dark, in which a qualifier freerolls their way on.)

On the other hand, an online tourney grinder (like a Matt Stout) probably sees some value when seeing the likes of Phil Laak and Robert Williamson III at the TV table.

There's something wrong with that?
