Gambling's Aces (60 Minutes On CNBC)
If anyone is interested, the compilation show 60 Minutes On CNBC has assembled an episode of the venerable news magazine's gambling- and poker-related stories. Chances are, those on a poker forum have seen all of them. But it's pretty interesting to watch them now, in light of the current climate and recent events.
Segment #1: "The Cheaters" - the AP/UB scandal, as reported by Steve Croft in 2008. Yes, this is the same feature Bob and Huff covered on BPS a few years ago.
Segment #2: "Steve Wynn" - Profile of the Las Vegas mogul and the Encore resort, as reported by Charlie Rose in 2008.
Segment #3: "Illegal... and Thriving" - Examination of the online gaming boom, including Party Poker, possible licensing/regulation, live casinos attempting to enter the market, sports betting, and a new bill looking to stop financial institutions from transacting money to offshore gaming sites. Reported by Lesley Stahl in 2005.
According to my channel guide, this episode will run again on CNBC at 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 22. Of course, listings vary from provider to provider, so check your area for the "Gambling's Aces" episode.
