Day 1B Of EPT Kyiv
August 20, 2021

The second and last Day 1 of the PokerStars European Poker Tour Kyiv Sports Poker Championship, began yesterday with 167 players signing up to play.  Add that number to the first Day One's totals and you end up with a relatively impressive 296 entries, creating a total prize pool worth EUR1,391,200.

Among the nearly 170 players that chose to start their Ukrainian poker odyssey on the second Day One sat many familiar faces including Katja Thater, Dario Minieri, Ivan Demidov, Shaun Deeb, Vitaly Lunkin and "The Great Dane" Gus Hansen, who livened up the place for a few levels, and managed to survive long enough to experience the bizarre, nearly 20 minute total blackout in Kyiv's Palace of Sports complex, but eventually busted before the end of Day 1b play, with little to show for his efforts besides dark and eerie memories.

Other pros joining Hansen at the proverbial rail included Josh Field, John Kabbaj, Leo Fernandez, Mr. Mineiri, and around 53 others, leaving about 110 players from the day to continue on to Thursday's second day of play.

Day 2 of the PokerStars EPT Kyiv event starts again today, with 203 players vying for a first prize worth EUR330,000- a prize that in dollars translates to nearly a half million bucks.
