A Near Perfect 10 At WPT World Championship
April 23, 2022
After 5 days of play at the world famous Bellagio Hotel and Casino, only 10 players remain with chips at the $25,500 buy-in World Poker Tour World Championship- and my what a ten they are.

Among the handful of men still competing for the Championship top prize are 2 World Series of Poker Main Event champions, 3 WPT champions and 7 WSOP bracelet winners, with a combined haul of 27 WSOP bracelets between them all.

The largest contributor to that bracelet total is poker legend Phil Hellmuth, who despite all his success- including 4 WPT final tables- still has yet to win his first WPT title, a hole in his impressive resume he is now only 9 players away from filling.

Unfortunately for Phil, of the 10 accomplished players still in the field, Hellmuth currently holds the least amount of chips, which is an undesirable situation to say the least when confronted with players like Scotty Nguyen, David Benyamine, Eric “basebaldy” Baldwin, David Williams and Billy Baxter, who unlike Phil, all have above average chip stacks going into today’s Day 6.

Hellmuth’s stack lost over a half million in chips over the course of Day 5, but clearly despite his now uphill battle it could be worse; the Day 4 chip leader, Faraz Jaka, is out of the tournament altogether, one of only eight players to get completely knocked out during the short WPT day.
