There is no escaping the smile of Amanda Leatherman, or her notepad and camera.  Like an annoying member of the paparazzi, Leatherman is there to get the dirt on what is going on in the poker world, and on the PokerRoad, just for you.
Brian "SbRugby" Towsend vs. Ronald McDonald
VS.

Would you like fries with your meal?  High-stakes cash game player, and CardRunners instructor, Brian "Sbrugby" Townsend will soon be asking that question to customers following a bet that will require him to work 20 hours in a McDonalds restaurant.  Yep...that's right, one of the world's biggest cash game players will be serving up "double chee" to the masses.  All the details of the bet aren't clear, but here's what I've dug up so far. Townsend made a bet with fellow CardRunners instructor Brian "Stinger" Hastings that Hastings couldn't play 200/400 for the rest of 2007. At the end of the year, complications arose in terms of the exact parameters of the wager, and Townsend and Hastings decided to settle the matter by holding a vote on CardRunners.com.  Sorry, Rugby.  Some have speculated that the whole thing is a hoax or just a publicity stunt by CardRunners, but here's what CR' director of marketing posted on twoplustwo.com:

Hey Guys:

Just wanted to come on here to explain a bit about what will be going on...

Brian will not deceive or lie to obtain the job at McDonalds. We will work closely with the manager and owner of a local franchise, and explain the situation so that his co-workers are aware. We are planning to get as much as possible on tape with some before/after interviews, though there are obviously complications with obtaining footage.

The bet arose in the CardRunners forums when Stinger needed some motivation to stay away from the 200/400 NL games where he'd lost a lot of money in 2007. Members voted on what the loser should have to do from a list of three of four humorous experiences.

Not sure when the working will go down, but we're getting started on setting it up asap.

Ezra, Dir of Marketing for CR.

As usual, opinion is mixed in the general poker community, with some feeling Townsend's punishment is offensive to those who work at McDonalds and other fast food joints. To make matters even more interesting, CR plans to film the whole ordeal.  Will they be able to shoot in the clown's hamburger house?  Who knows. Maybe Rugby won't even get the job. Wouldn't that be a sick beat...
