| Justin Shronk scours the Internet forums and deciphers the tournament trail scuttlebutt to bring you the best dirt and gossip professional poker has to offer. Welcome to Pokerazzi! |
| Aglialoro Shrugged |

|
John Aglialoro made a name for himself in poker (if only briefly) in 2004 by besting a final table featuring Joe Cassidy, Hoyt Corkins and John D’Agostino and winning the 2004 U.S. Poker Championship at the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City. Aglialoro has some other minor poker accomplishments, but his almost $700,000 win at the Taj that year will probably always be what people remember him for.
… in the poker world, that is.
According to imdb.com, Aglialoro is the Executive Producer on the upcoming film version of “Atlas Shrugged” – a renowned novel by Ayn Rand from 1957. Angelina Jolie is listed as having signed on to play the main female character, Dagny Taggart (after whom my mother’s AIM screenname is based, and after whom I would have been named had I been born a girl).
|
Brad Pitt is rumored to also be cast in the movie which is slated for release in late 2008.
It is doubtful “Atlas Shrugged” will be a hit amongst poker players, despite Aglialoro’s involvement. One, the book is an esoteric fable about economics as it pertains to individuality versus society; and two, the hardcover version is around six-hundred thousand pages long.

| We've Created A Monster |

|
Many poker fans were pumped when they heard that Jean-Robert “Don’t Call Me Bobby” Bellande was going to appear on the hit CBS show “Survivor.” His outgoing personality, coupled with his knack for getting under people’s skin (intentionally and unintentionally), was sure to make for great TV – and it did.
I was one of those people excited to see Bellande eating bugs and putting out torches, but after what I heard today, I might want to rescind my enthusiasm. We may have created a monster.
|
Bobby Jean-Robert’s draw in the NBC Heads-Up Championship today was Sam Grizzle. Sam’s table talk outshines his poker skill by the same magnitude that my computer skills outshine my ability to fly to Barbados on a dealer button.
Bellande was defeated by Sam and, therefore, was probably not in the best of moods for his post-game interview with NBC…when the following happened:
I am told that the two shot a take of their post-match interview and it was complete. Bellande then asked Sam what he held on a certain hand. Sam told him, and Bellande immediately demanded to re-shoot the interview. He apparently wanted to talk about the hand in question differently than he had done in the first take, citing “not wanting to look like an idiot on TV.”
Bellande’s lawyer has also submitted a letter asking to re-shoot the entire season of “Survivor” citing the same reason.
