More Prop Bets with Patrik Antonius
|

|
I think Patrik must know something about his golf game that the rest of the poker world doesn’t.
He now has bets with Brandon Adams and Daniel Negreanu, both involving golf, that total well over half a million dollars. The newer of the two bets, the one with Daniel, is a golf/Stud 8OB bet for…wait for it…$500,000! Daniel is known for his love of golf, but has never really achieved the level of performance I’m sure he demands of himself – “My longest drive lifetime is 247 yards. I average just under 200 yards per drive, but I do hit them straight.”*
Since making his golf/tennis bet with Brandon Adams earlier this year (see Pokerazzi 4-4-08). Patrik has been practicing with a golf coach and might be looking to parlay his recent improvement into two big scores. According to Daniel, “PA is already WAY better than me at golf, he'd crush me from the same tees. He already has a coach and got good really fast.”* |
Daniel, having conceded he is a huge dog in golf, also feels he may be only a slight favorite against Patrik in Stud 8, “I definitely feel like I'd have an edge in Stud 8 or better, but not that big.”* It’s strange that Daniel would accept the bet considering he’s (self-acknowledged, mind you) practically letting Patrik freeroll on him in a $500,000 Stud 8 match. There must be some kind of hustle going on here – or at least more than meets the eye.
I’m sticking to $20 games of Tecmo Super Bowl (NES version, obv.).

| “I Hate You Gais” |

|
We might not be seeing much of Tom Dwan’s hair this week at the $25k Bellagio event, much to the dismay of poker media member, Gary Wise, who has referred to Durrr’s hair as “perfect” (and also referred to his eyes as “glassy” … freak).
Tom recently made a bet with friend Alan Sass in which if Tom failed to meet his friends at a bar/restaurant by a specified time he would have to wear a “funny hat,” of Alan’s choosing, for the duration of the WPT Championship. Let’s just say Durr missed his deadline. With a short time frame to find the perfect hat, Alan has gone to the forums for suggestions – and
suggestions he has received. Some of the highlights
include a giant Oscar Meyer Weiner headpiece and a girly pink Phil Hellmuth hat (a nod to both his rivalry with Phil and the forum trolls questioning his sexuality).
A number of the entries (like the-black-baseball-cap-with-giant-phallus-on-it) are funny, but would obviously last only minutes in a Jack McClelland run WPT event.
Something will prevail though, as there are, for sure, candidates that meet the following criteria:
|
embarrassing Tom, not too offensive to others, and not outlandish/distracting enough that Jack will ask for it to be removed.
In my opinion, or IMO rather, 2p2 poster TheJubilantMale hit the nail on Durrr’s head: |

| Bobby’s Room Season Begins |

|
With a lot of the players moving to the Internet, going broke, or just simply not being in Las Vegas as much anymore, the famed “Big Game,” which used to be a daily occurrence in Bobby’s Room at the Bellagio, just ain’t running as often as it used to under normal circumstance. Well, we’re coming to that time of the year when “normal circumstances” get tossed out the window.
The upcoming months, from the beginning of next week’s WPT Championship at Bellagio all the way through the end of the World Series in July, will officially be “Bobby’s Room Season.” Last year, Bobby’s Room saw a host of new faces and new games spread during “the season.” Internet players, in particular Brian “sbrugby” Townsend, took shots at games like the $1k/2k “half and half” game (half no-limit hold’em/half pot-limit Omaha), and special heads-up matches unfolded, like the Brandon Adams vs. Sammy Farha $1k/2k PLO showdown in which Brandon got the button every hand.
So how long do you have to wait for the 2008 version of “Bobby’s Room Season” to kick off? Apparently not long at all. Rumors of Durrr and Sammy playing heads-up have already started, and, according to card room scuttlebutt, Sammy played David Peat (“Viffer” to the interwebbers) at $300-600 on Wednesday and, “he (Peat) got killed.” Many of us are also still eagerly awaiting the “thirty or forty matches” of $50k-100k each that Phil Hellmuth and Tom Dwan are supposed to play sometime soon.
‘Tis the season!
