"You can't fly with the eagles if you squawk like a chicken."

After two days of playing, I went out twenty-first in the mixed games event. I think I played as wel as I possibly could have but when the antes and blinds keep going up, you have to have a sustained rush and I went card dead. Of course I won't mention the one-outer Hold'Em pot I lost and the K-K-K I caught in a huge razz hand. But that's poker and just because you have pains, you don't have to be one.

Just to show you the difference, I played 17 hours in two days and got back $16,000 for beating 170 players. Take back my $10,000 buy-in and that means I made $400 an hour. That's not much when you see the money flowing through the cash games that are around during the WSOP. Of course, the flip side is I had a good shot at my eleventh bracelet and a good payday. The tournaments are good for poker and you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands; you need to throw something back.

The side bets are really popping around the WSOP. Phil Ivey is making lots of wagers he will win a bracelet. I laid him 3-1 he wouldn't and he wound up taking less than 2-1 which made me feel like an idiot. But I think he is finding out the further he goes the tougher it is to win one of those bracelets. I also took Daniel Negreanu, Lee Watkinson and Lee Markholt over Phil and Allen Cunningham for a big bet. I'll have action on that one because one of the five will probably win a bracelet.

This is a spoof of Gus Hansen's blog:
