Ugh, holiday time.  I want to like this time of year.  I really do.  It just never seems to work out that way.  It always sounds really great to me, walking around malls, checking out the huge Christmas trees, drinking coffee and hot chocolates, while listening to holiday music, and settling in for cozy nights of movie watching.  Doesn't always happen that way though.  Seems like something negative always seems to happen at the end of the year for some reason.  I'm also one of those people that tends to think he likes to do things alone.  Rugged individualism, right?  Well, I don't care who you are, being that way during the end of the year always sucks...regardless of what anyone says.

Enough of that Scroogieness though.  I do always really enjoy the end of the year for how much everything seems to slow down workwise.  There's nothing like having a little mini-built in vacation to relax.  I'm planning on seeing several films, as my movie-going behaviors have really slowed down as of late.  I just saw "The Road" and I'm not quite sure how I feel about it yet.  I always have a scary fascination with apocalypse movies, so this one was a natural.  It's terrifying and heartbreaking in so many ways, while underscoring the strength of one's dedication to another human being.  I guess at the end of it all, that's really all we have; each other.  It's an interesting film, but was a much better book, for sure, which is to be expected.

I'm sure I will check out "Avatar" as well, but the next movie I would like to see is "Crazy Heart", which is another sad one it seems.  It's supposed to be amazing though, so I will see for myself.  Perhaps a little bit of "The Wrester" with Mickey Rourke, topped off with a little more conquering comeback element at the end.

One thing I am looking forward to is putting together my year end "Best of Albums" list.  I always look forward to that blog each year and '09 was one of the most phenomenal years for music in recent memory, in my opinion.  Wow, I really need to get out more...

No plans for Christmas and no plans for New Year's, as of yet, so I'll be staying in and trying to stay warm, haha, in Los Angeles...

peace,
