Sorry for my disappearance from the blogsphere everyone. I have been in a bit of a rut recently and just didn't feel like complaining about much to all of you, and thus, no blogs. Just been thinking about the usual, you know, what is my purpose here and all that bullshit. You know the drill...haha...

This weekend however was a blast as I went out on Friday night and met up with Huff for happy hour in his neighborhood in Beverly Hills. We started tossing back Coronas, and managed to mix in a tequila shot or two as well, before we broke out the inevitable deck of cards and the most classic drinking game of all time, 'Fluggenstein'.

I've written about it before, but basically it is the purest of all gambling games and pretty quickly I was down several shots to Huff. The only rules for the game are simply that you are creative in making up rules for the game. Basically anything goes..."If any of these three cards is a 6, then you drink a shot"...and generally the game really degenerates as the night wears on. I have forced people to jump into pools with all their clothes on from Fluggenstein, as well as had others pour buckets of ice down their pants mid-game. It can get a little crazy... Poker News

I digress though. As Huff and I were starting to really open it up, a bunch of the boys showed up; Josh and the Brothers Grasso (Nick & Chris) showed up and we really started cooking. Long story short, we all got a chance to have quite a few drinks and Nick got saddled with the bill when he couldn't beat me in blind hold'em. We even gave his a shot to get out of his debt by merely picking 3 cards, suits irrelevant, and having them match the three that we had picked out of the deck. Amazingly he went 2 for 3 in those picks TWICE, but alas it was not enough and he was saddled with paying the $200 or so bill.

We then split and headed out for sushi, where we scooped up Alexandra (Huff's gf) as well as Rifkin, who happened to be at the bar. More drinking, more laughs, lots of fish, and we headed out to Busby's, which is a pretty ghetto bar here in LA...but they do have games there, which is a very good thing.

We arrived and immediately got into pop-a-shot battles, pool battles, shuffleboard clashes, as well as skee-ball skirmishes. What can we say? This group likes to compete. We were even joined out by Ali and his girlfriend, Naf, and hung out with them for a bit. Always fun to corral these two to come out for a bit...

Of course, as all these activities continued, so did the flowing of beverages. At 2am, the bar was closing, but no one was ready to go home, so we headed over to Josh's across town and continued the debauchery, along with listening to Josh work on his dj skills. Josh has mad abilities, and I'm quite sure he could dj many a wedding and/or several bah mitzvahs...haha...

We were then until around 5 or so and then made the trek back across town to grab some sleep at Huff and Alexandra's, who graciously allowed me to crash on their couch. Great night, and I was stoked to go out and have a good time with all the peeps...life ain't so bad...

I had to rally my ass up today quickly though because it was Big Game day, with the Cal/Stanfurd (Yes, I know it's misspelled. Get your own blog. Ha!) going down in Berkeley. Normally I would make the trek up to the NorthBay, but this year I just didn't feel like it for whatever reason. Luckily though I was able to hook up with Susie, Dan, and Steve, three of my good friends form the college days. We hopped into a bar in Marina Del Rey and watched our Bears open up can on whoop ass on the 'Furd. Go Bears! Yeah!

So, that was my weekend so far. Definitely a good time with good friends, so I am all smiles tonight, but staying in and taking it easy...I believe...unless I get some offers...hmmmmm...

peace,
J

PS- I played a few FTOPS events recently, but just wasn't able to get much going on that front. Took a few beats and that was that...
