Gazing Out The Window At The Strip; Las Vegas, NV

It really is true that as time goes by it just accelerates all the while.  It seems like just yesterday I was playing in my first World Series, still learning the game and attempting to get my nerves under control when playing in front of crowds or on TV.  These days I am trying to pack my poker in between making strides with PokerRoad.com and hopping on planes to hit the next tournament stop.  And yes, still learning the game all the while...

It's still a little funny for me to think about the Las Vegas strip today, as 6 years ago it was still just the place that I came to for epic party weekends with friends.  Just a few short years after that it became a bit of a work office for online poker, and lost some of that party atmosphere.  Well, maybe lost just a slight bit of that atmosphere...it's still Vegas, after all...

NBC HeadsUp was last week and big congratulations to both Huck and Vanessa, who made sick runs to the final match.  It seems that **again** my invitational was lost in the mail.  Maybe they sent it to Vegas?  Los Angeles?  Man, this is becoming an epidemic, what with my invite being lost like 4 years in a row now!  Haha...

PokerRoad was allowed to have a serious presence at this year's event, and we thank NBC and Cesar's wholeheartedly for that privilege.  We were allowed to broadcast LIVE, as the only other media outlet who was allowed inside Pure Nightclub for the drawing party this year, which was both an honor and a complete blast.  Be looking for more of that kind of wacky LIVE coverage of events in the future.  We love doing it and you guys seem to eat it up as well, so we'll be expanding for sure.

I decided to stay in Vegas after the event, rather than going back to LA, and just work as much as possible, as well as hang out a little.  I have been playing a bunch of racquetball with Adam 'Roothlus' Levy recently, so he has been keeping my old ass in shape, which I have to thank him for.  I'll be hanging until this weekend when I hit San Jose for one of my favorite tournaments of the year, Bay 101's Shooting Star event.  Not only is this in my backyard as I grew up in the Bay Area, but it's also run by one of my good friends in Poker, Matt Savage, as well as just being a damn good time with bounties, 6-handed tables, and all the zany shit that comes with that.  As usual, it's going to be a blast.  As Gav say, I am going to try and "not bubble it this time, Seebs", as it was the first event I Seventhboked...sigh...

Other than that I have just been hanging.  I haven't been able to check out the two films I really wanted to see that opened last week, "Watchmen" and "Phoebe In Wonderland", so that will be high on my list when I get some downtime.  "Watchmen" is an amazing book and anyone who hasn't had a chance to pick it up should do so soon.  Excellent stuff.  "Phoebe" is the story of a little girl who is mentally ill and her struggle to push through that as well as pull those close to her along for the ride.  Looks like an amazing and heartbreaking story.  God, I am such a chick sometimes...

That's all I've got for you kids tonight.  Wish my life was more exciting and I could give you more to chew on.

I'll holler soon from the road and let you know what's what form there soooooooon...

peace,
J
