The post show threads have always been a big part of why I've loved the show. It served as a chance to revisist my favorite parts with people that ejoyed it as much as I did. Going over the subtle jokes that may have been missed and just giving these guys the feedback they deserve for all the hard work they put into etertaining us.
Last nights show was a beautiful end to an incredible run. For all their talk aout it being largly a clip show. It really highlighted how much they have done, and how well they have done it.
My favorite moments over the last three plus years, that weren't metioned on the show last night in no particular order are.
The birthday song they sang to a fans wife. I believe her name was Teresa.
The comercial they did for the American Tourist department touting an abundance of clean drinking water as a major reason to travle to America from a third world country.
Barak or the Rock. Not because I was the contestant, but because it was such a spot on observation, turned into a game, that required what I am sure was a ton of work sorting through clips. And then to have the rest of the world from other hack radio shows to SNL do bits on the same premise that wern't as good as what these guys we're able to pull off in their spare time.
All of the other well concieved games that they just couldn't get to work due to what on it's face would look like the stupidity of the fans. But in actuallity was in my opinion due in large part to the difficulty of clearly hearing the bits over the phone line. I can speak from experience, hearing that **** clearly was really tough. But the frustration it caused the guys was priceless. Especially on the GDB bits.
And lastly just the overall involvment of the fans. There are tons of podcasts out there these days, few of them broadcast live, and even of the ones that do few reach out to the fans and take calls, and I don't think any play games. These guys are doing real radio, and in my opinion doing it better than pretty much anyone out there and they are doing it with less resourses.
Hats off to all involved. Looking forward to the relaunch, and any and all projects these guys are involved in.
I don't know if a forum is planned for the Huff and Stapes site. If it is I look forward to it, as the sense of community it creats is one of the things I don't feel any other podcast or radio show anywhere has going for it.
Good luck to all. It's been real.
