World Poker Finals Preview
November 4, 2021

The PokerRoad crew is headed back to the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation once again, home of the world famous Foxwoods Casino, for the 2008 World Poker Tour Foxwoods World Poker Finals.

The Foxwoods World Poker Finals is a six day $9,700 + $300 buy-in event, where each competitor starts with 30,000 in tournament chips. Blind levels for the event will be 90 minutes long throughout the entirety of the tournament.

The Foxwoods World Poker Finals is a classic event that has been with the World Poker Tour since its inception. Many previous winners have gone on to become household poker names, including Tuan Le, Hoyt Corkins, Howard Lederer, Nenad Medic and Nick Schulman. Incredibly, Medic and Schulman both reached last year’s final table where they attempted to make history by winning the same $10,000 buy-in WPT open event twice. Schulman nearly succeeded but came up just short, losing to Michael Vela in a heads-up battle.

The final table results for the 2007 WPT Foxwoods World Poker Finals were as follows:

1. Michael Vela $1,704,986
2. Nick Schulman $864,652
3. Nenad Medic $486,367
4. Tom “Durrrr” Dwan $324,244
5. Michael White $243,184
6. Mark Weitzman $189,142

Vela was able to score such a large payday thanks to an impressive turnout of 575 players, which created a total prize pool worth $4,505,075; a truly huge event at one of the world’s biggest casinos.

Stick with the PokerRoad crew as they invade Foxwoods and turn it upside down trying not to get bored during the hours that the event isn’t running. That attempt can be followed right here at PokerRoad as we bring you blogs, news, videos and PokerRoad Radio with Ali, Gavin, and Joe straight from the land of much wood (Mashantucket = “much wooded land”).
