U.S. Congressman Barney Frank (D-MA) has proven himself to be one of Internet poker’s strongest advocates, a trend he continued recently with the introduction of HR6870, the “Payment Systems Protection Act of 2008.”

This new bill will attempt to solve some of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act’s (UIGEA) biggest problems by limiting its scope and preventing its implementation until the law can be reworked in a way that makes sense and won’t overly burden America’s already overtaxed banking systems.

HR6870 will try to pick up where the original “Payment Systems Protection Act” left off, a similar Frank bill which failed due to a deadlocked vote in committee.
