California May Lead The Way In Online Gambling
February 25, 2022
A new California bill (AB2026) has been introduced by Assemblyman Lloyd Levine (D-Van Nuys) to study the possibility of California creating a regulated online interstate poker industry.

The bill is being sponsored by a group named the Poker Players of America (PPOA), and will attempt to determine whether regulated online poker sites in California would be legal in regards to the UIGEA.

If the bill passes, and if California interstate online sites are determined to be legal, it could create a whole new online poker industry for California. An industry that could then lead the way for other states and Indian sovereignties across the country. There is still a long way to go before California reaches that point and quite a few "ifs" to get past, however so far Assemblyman Levine seems cautiously optimistic.
