More International Tournament stops Planned For WPT
April 16, 2022

There definitely seems to be a trend developing with the World Poker Tour.  Last month, when the World Poker Tour announced a new Marrakech stop, it perhaps seemed like a bit of an anomaly, particularly as it was not a stop that was likely to be aired during the regular WPT season. However, soon after that announcement another WPT stop was confirmed, this time in beautiful Venice, Italy which perhaps began to give some hint towards the World Poker Tour's future intentions.

Well now it seems fairly clear that the WPT is interested in becoming a much bigger player on the International market, as they just announced both a new EUR5,000 + EUR300 WPT Spanish Championship event in Barcelona, Spain and a $10,000 + $300 main event tournament in Merit Cyprus- on the gorgeous Mediterranean coast.

With these four major stops planned in exotic International locations (with who knows how many more still in the works), most of which are supported by lucrative european online poker sites, it is remarkably becoming more and more conceivable for players to call themselves WPT tournament rounders, without ever even needing to step on US soil.
