With most American poker fans focused on the $25,000 WPT Championship currently taking place in Las Vegas, it would be easy to miss the fact that there is another big buy-in poker tournament which is also in action, just across the pond, that being the European Poker Tour- San Remo, presented by

This EUR5000 + 300 EPT event is boasting an astounding total prize pool worth EUR5,713,300 (about $7.4 million USD), thanks to nearly 1,200 registered players including Chad Brown, Tom McEvoy, Luca Pagano, Hevad Khan, Annette Obrestad, Greg Raymer and 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Peter Eastgate.

It's one of the biggest fields ever for an EPT event, according to official live blog reports from, which should turn at least a few American heads away from the Belagio and towards the Casino Sanremo in Italy.

After three intense days of play those initial 1,178 players have been whittled down to a more manageable 32, each now deep in the money and dangerously close to a top prize worth EUR1,508,000 (nearly $2,000,000 USD).

The final two days of play of the European Poker Tour- San Remo main event will once again be televised as they happen on EPTLive, which as always can be viewed right here at, starting tomorrow at 2 p.m. San Remo time (or 5 a.m. PST).
