Madsen Keeps Crushing But Can't Quite Complete Canada's Open Championship
May 18, 2022

PokerRoad's Jeff Madsen, currently ranked 3rd in Bluff Magazine's 2009 Player of the Year race, just barely missed another big win this weekend, when he took 2nd overall in the Canadian Open Poker Championship Heads-Up Main Event.

Madsen outlasted 91 other heads-up players, according to a recent article from the Calgary Herald, but was unable to get past the last obstacle standing between him and a first prize worth $100,000, namely Quebec's Benjamin LaBlond.  With LaBlond defeating Madsen two matches to one for the 2009 title, Jeff was forced to settle for a runner-up prize worth $50,000 (and even more POY points).
