WASSUP '09: Daniel Wins The Omaha 8 (no no the other one)

The $10,000 buy-in World Series of Poker World Championship Omaha Eight-or-Better event (#18), wrapped up yesterday with Daniel Alaei taking the title and his second WSOP bracelet.

Alaei beat out a surprisingly star studded final 17 for an open event that included Scott Clements, Alex Kravchenko, John Monnette, Toto Leonidas and two PokerRoaders Annie Duke and Daniel Negreanu

Both Duke and Negreanu were dangerously short numerous times throughout the difficult final day of play, but remarkably were both still able to squeak their way onto the final table before finally being dispatched with.

For the first place finish Alaei pocketed $445,898.

The final table finish positions for Event #18, the $10,000 buy-in World Championship Omaha Hi/Lo were as follows:

1st.  Daniel Alaei- $445,898

2nd.  Scott Clements-  $275,946

3rd.  Ben Boyd- $182,730

4th.  Daniel Negreanu- $130,401

5th.  John Monnette- $97,422

6th.  Greg Jamison- $77,736

7th.  Thomas Koral- $65,453

8th.  Annie Duke-  $58,049

9th.  Yueqi (Rich) Zhu- $54,179
