WASSUP '09: Holy Crap! Ivey Wins Another
June 15, 2021

PokerRoad's Phil Ivey, six-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner including one from less than two weeks ago, just made it seven thanks to his most recent triumph in Event #25- the $2,500 buy-in Omaha 8-or-better/Seven Card Stud 8-or-better.

With this win, Ivey not only earned another WSOP bracelet but also $220,538 in cash, untold thousands (if not millions) in prop bets and 100 WSOP Player of the Year points, putting him in second place overall in this year's POY race.  Phil Ivey now has 220 POY points overall tying him with Brock Parker, the man who knocked out his friend Daniel Negreanu in heads-up play in Event #14, and putting him just behind Finland's "Wahlbeck Cannonball"- Ville Wahlbeck, who this year has already taken a thirteenth, a first, a second and a third.

Although there were only 376 entrants in Event #25, a relatively small amount compared to your average WSOP hold 'em event (but a good amount for a mixed event), Ivey still had to get past many of the world's top players including a final table that held Jon "PearlJammer" Turner, Dutch Boyd and 2001 WSOP Main Event World Champion Carlos Mortensen.

The final table finish results for Event #25- Omaha Eight-or-Better/Seven Card Stud Eight-or-Better were as follows:

1st.  Phil Ivey- $220,538

2nd.  Ming Lee- $136,292

3rd.  Juan Carlos Mortensen- $89,342

4th.  Russ (Dutch) Boyd- $61,919

5th.  Jon Turner- $45,237

6th.  Eric Buchman- $34,747

7th.  Thomas Koral- $27,993

8th.  Peter Gelencser- $23,600
