WASSUP '09: Wolpert Wins The 10K Heads-Up
June 17, 2021

The $10,000 buy-in, World Series of Poker No-Limit Hold 'em Heads-Up World Championship concluded only moments ago and with its conclusion we now can add yet another newcomer to the exclusive ranks of WSOP bracelet owners.

Leo Wolpert won the 10K event, earning himself not only his first WSOP bracelet but the lion's share of the $2.4 million total prize pool, a top prize worth $625,682.

256 players entered Event #29- the 10K Heads-Up, including top players like Phil Hellmuth, Chris Ferguson, Vanessa Rousso, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Johnny Chan and PokerRoad's Gavin Smith

Although Gavin was unable to advance to the second day of play in the event, 10-time bracelet winner Johnny Chan was, and in fact made it all the way to the "Elite Eight," getting him dangerously close to tying Phil Hellmuth once again in the WSOP bracelet race.  Fortunately for Phil, Chan was unable to get any further, eventually being eliminated by  Michigan's Jamin Stokes.

The top eight finish postions for Event #29- the Heads-Up No-Limit Hold 'em World Championship were as follows:

1st.  Leo Wolpert- $625,682

2nd.  John Duthie- $386,636

3rd.  Jamin Stokes- $214,289
        Nathan Doudney- $214,289
