WASSUP '09: Event #39, Foley Foils Brandon Cantu
June 23, 2021

World Series of Poker bracelet winner Brandon Cantu, survived a field of over 2,700 players in the WSOP's Event #39- a $1,500 buy-in No-Limit Hold 'em tournament, but wasn't quite able to close the deal thanks to Michigan's Ray Foley, who officially earned his first bracelet by knocking young Brandon out.

Thanks in part to the large number of entrants, the final day of Event #39 began with 26 players still in the field including numerous well known pros like Joe Barholdi (20th), Raymond Davis (13th) and 2006 US Poker Championship winner Alex Jacob, who made it all the way into the final four of Event #39, making Foley's eventual victory all the more impressive.

For the first place finish, Foley not only earned his first gold WSOP bracelet but also 100 WSOP 2009 Player of the Year points and $657,969 in cash.

The final table finish positions for Event #39- $1,500 buy-in No-Limit Hold 'em, were as follows:

1st.  Ray Foley- $657,969

2nd.  Brandon Cantu- $403,951

3rd.  Wei Mu- $269,609

4th.  Alex Jacob- $190,857

5th.  Tyler Spalding- $143,421

6th.  Jonathan Markham- $114,514
