One of the most prestigious events of the World Series of Poker, the $50,000 buy-in World Championship H.O.R.S.E. Event (#49), begins today and it appears most of the top players in the game have once again shown up to compete.

This event, which is often referred to as "the pros championship," starts each player with 150,000 in tournament chips and begins with Limit Hold 'em and blinds of 400/800.  Once the event has begun, the tournament will cycle through levels of Hold 'em, Omaha 8-or-better, Razz, Seven Card Stud and Seven Card Stud Eight-or-Better.

Past winners of the 50K H.O.R.S.E. include Freddy Deeb, Scotty Nguyen and David "Chip" Reese, who won the inaugural event in 2006 and has the Championship trophy named in his honor.

Event #49 was scheduled to begin today (6/26) at noon, but that start time has already been delayed, so there's still plenty of time to virtual rail the event from when it first kicks off.  Many players involved have already begun tweeting about the event with the PokerRoad Nation, and one can tell from the obvious excitement, that once again the $50K H.O.R.S.E is not an event to miss.
